MRFU Rugby Foundation Courses
To all members,
With the introduction of a new youths section soon to Stompers, i feel i need to give the option of the MRFU's training schedule if you ever want to get involved with coaching youths now or at a later stage in your rugby career. This will help to improve your rugby playing with better knowledge about the game and what is around it in and out of the sport itself.
Please find the following all held at Marsa Clubhouse:
- 24th and 25th February- MRFU Foundation course /Officiating course
- 9th to 11th March- IRB/MRFU Level one introducing rugby coaching course
- 30th and 31st of March- IRB/MRFU Level one introducing officiating course
- 31st August till 2nd of september- IRB/MRFU level one introducing rugby coaching course.
For those who are interested and have taken a level one course, there is a level 2 course being held this year, but do not attempt without prior knowledge of the game and its principles/had a go at coaching for a while and understand the basics of it. For more info contact me direct.
For the courses above please contact Mike Beerman
Thanks

This year’s Ray Elliot saw Stompers (winners of the 2009-2010 cup) face Kavallieri (winners of the 2009-2010 league). This is no unusual fixture in the rugby community and the Ray Elliot has been fought out by these two many a time. It was a hell of a way to open the season and proved to be a highly contested game as expected. Stompers start this season with a lot of injuries and missing players from their usual starting 15, however, as is the Stompers way, talent was replaced with talent and we still managed to give Kavallieri a run for their money. The two best teams on the island fought it out for the full 80 minutes on the field, with trys being scored at both ends, however unfortunately, Kavallieri managed to secure the win in the final play of the game when they managed to secure the final try, thus beating Stompers.Although we did not manage to retain the Ray Elliot cup this year, it was a great game of rugby, and a reminder that nothing comes easy, leading us to make a vow to win everything else this year.
